As we launch into Spring time there is a sense of newness and life in the air. But more importantly this is the time of year we get to celebrate Easter and the new life that Jesus gave us when he died and rose from the grave. Oh what a glorious day! I love the words of the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Jesus, our Lord and Savior, gives us new life, and in Him we live and move and have our being! At the forefront of Easter is the greatest miracle that anyone can ever receive, the gift of Salvation. Jesus made a way for you and I to be forgiven and freed from sin. But we must remember that with this gift comes responsibility. We have a part to play; there is a real heaven to gain and a real hell to shun. Yes, our salvation is by grace, but this gift of grace enables us to live a life free from sin. Just remember that grace will always lead us to righteousness! This is the reason we rejoice and celebrate during this special time of the year.
We have so many exciting things planned this month at Family Worship Center. I hope you are as excited as I am! Each of us has a part to play in what God is doing in OUR church. We continue to see lives changed and hearts touched on a weekly basis.
I want to personally thank you for everything you do. With your help serving, praying, and supporting in every area we will continue to see great things happen!
Your Friend and Pastor,
This month marks the beginning of Spring and with that comes a sense of new life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” There is nothing that excites me more than seeing people come to Jesus and being made new! We are so blessed each week to see people make decisions for Christ. It is the highlight of everything we do.
In addition, I am also thrilled to see how God is working in our Sunday services. From the very beginning of Family Worship Center, God clearly instructed me to “mix the old with the new,” and to this day we are still doing just that! We want to reach every person we can with the Gospel and a touch of God’s presence.
I want to thank you for helping me contend for the Spirit every time we gather.
We have some exciting things coming this month; there really is something for everyone. I hope you will stay plugged in and hooked up! It is an honor to serve with each and every one of you that God has placed here at Family Worship Center.
See you soon and often!
What a great start to the New Year! February is here, and I trust you and your family are back in the swing of things and enjoying life to the fullest!
I know God has good things planned for us, and it is my continued prayer that He will guide us through every decision we face in life.
Thinking about “life”, let me encourage you to always let Scripture be our guide. The Bible tells us in James 4:8, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” It is so important that we never get too busy in life that we stop drawing near to Him.
When we love someone, we have a desire to spend time with them. This is especially true of our Heavenly Father. He wants to draw near to us, but we have to first draw near to Him.
Spend time with God. Spend time in prayer, in His Word, and in worship.
Include God in every decision in your life, no matter how big or small. If it matters to you, it matters to Him! I love what Proverbs 3:5-6 says in The Message Bible, “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil!”
May we as a family continue to draw near to God, strive to always do what is right, and acknowledge Him in all our ways. He has proven Himself faithful time and time again and this year will be no exception.
The best is yet to come!
Happy New Year! As we celebrate and move forward, I can’t help but think how good our God is. Year after year He is always faithful, and this year was no exception. We saw wonderful growth in many areas at Family Worship Center, and I look forward with great anticipation at what He will do in 2017.
In our planning and preparing for this year, we have some really great things coming. One of those I’m truly excited to share with you is the addition of an earlier Sunday morning service! This service will be in the main sanctuary and will include our same great music, and feature the Streams message from Shawn Scarborough on video. The second service will be just like our current Sunday morning service.
Both of these services will benefit from the same praise and worship, identical kids’ ministry, and our Cafe’ Mission in the main lobby, allowing for even more community and fellowship opportunities. Our youth will continue to meet on Sunday mornings during the second service.
This new service will give people more options to attend one of our Sunday morning worship experiences. This will allow us to package our brand of a Progressive Pentecostal message in two very similar, yet unique ways.
With Streams moving to Sunday mornings, this gives us the opportunity to offer an elective class at 6:30pm on Wednesdays in the Joy Center. This elective will host a different guest speaker and topic each month for those who prefer to attend this type of class.
We are always looking for ways to improve and make things better, but most of all we want to reach more people with the Gospel and allow God’s presence to touch hungry hearts.
Bea and I are agreeing with your family that this will be the best year ever. It is our prayer that there is more than enough in your house, just as it is in God’s house!
New Year’s blessings,
Christmas time is here, and I believe this truly is the most wonderful time of the year! Everywhere you look there are themes of joy, peace, gift giving, and celebrations. People go out of their way to show extra kindness and wish others a “Merry Christmas!” What is even more exciting is that we know the real reason behind all this joy!
Scripture records the angel’s words to the shepherds in Luke 2:10-11 “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
Christmas is all about our Savior, Jesus Christ, and how He came to earth to dwell among us. Jesus is the center of our world. Everything past, present, and future; it all points to Him, and that is why we celebrate His birth this time of year.
I can’t think of a greater opportunity we have as a Church than to reach out to people in our community and share the true joy of Christmas. In your workplace, at the stores, in school, with friends and family, everywhere you go, make a special point to share this joy that we have. Invite someone to join you for one of the many worship or fellowship times we have this month. You might just be surprised at how receptive they are this time of year!
Bea and I are praying this will be the most Wonderful Christmas you and your family have ever had!
